A storyboard and wireframe set for rebuilding rkdesignsllc.com as a custom-order store: leather patch hats, custom tees and laser-engraved leatherette tumblers, built in Eckert for ranches, small businesses and western-lifestyle customers.
Kelsey, the plan below is from 1 October. Draft 1 of your new site is now built, and you can try every page of it on the live preview. The whole site is dressed in tooled leather, with your new leather badge as the logo and the carved leather banner on the home page carrying R&K on one side and Money Run on the other. The heart of the plan is working, from the Hat Builder on your real Richardson 112 in all 28 colors to private order pages with proof approval and a dashboard that runs on your phone.
It’s hidden from Google until launch, and checkout stays in preview mode until your Stripe account is connected, so nobody can be charged yet. The Final Report walks through the whole site; below is each piece we planned and what Draft 1 delivers.
PlannedHero hat shot, three product lines, how it works in 4 steps, portfolio strip, bulk pricing teaser, reviews, quote button.
BuiltThe carved leather banner with R&K and Money Run side by side, “Your brand” tiles that flip to “Made real.”, a sphere of all 28 hat colors that opens the builder, what we make, the 4 steps, a bulk pricing chart, recent work, Made in Eckert and Text Kelsey. Reviews wait on yours.
PlannedA live preview with 27 colorways, Natural or Rust leather, 6 patch shapes and placement, with the bulk price updating as hats are added.
BuiltYour real Richardson 112 in all 28 colors, from the front and both sides. Leather patch (Natural or Rust, 6 shapes) or embroidery, with your leather badge sewn on the bill. Mixed colors count together for bulk pricing, and the design is saved in the link, so customers can reload or share it.
PlannedArtwork attached to the order, so you have the file the moment it lands. No more “type OK.”
BuiltCustomers upload their logo right in the builder and it shows “Logo locked in.” On phones the total and Add to cart stay in a bar at the bottom of the screen.
PlannedBulk pricing calculated live, Stripe Checkout, Colorado sales tax, flat-rate shipping or pickup.
BuiltOne hat is $25, down to $19 each at 84+, and mixed colors count together. Hat lines open back in the builder to edit, with quantity steppers, pickup in Eckert or shipping, and a required “I’ve read the order terms” box. Card payments switch on with your Stripe account.
PlannedA private link for every order: your proof, approve or ask for changes, and status from Received to Shipped.
BuiltCheckout opens the order page with an “Order received” confirmation and a live status tracker. Customers approve your proof with a confirm step (it won’t let them approve an old proof once you’ve sent a newer one), message you, finish paying an unpaid order, and get a tracking link once it ships. Lost the link? “Find your order” emails it to them.
PlannedYour real customer work, each piece one tap from “Order one like this.”
BuiltThe Portfolio opens with a 3D gallery “tunnel” of your real work, then the grid, where every piece has “Start one like this.” Recent work on the home page does the same.
PlannedIts own branded page: a braid color designer, the lineup and an order request form.
BuiltAll three, plus a Money Run band on the home page and its own half of the carved banner. Your pieces, prices and braid colors go in once you send them.
PlannedRanch brands, team orders and events: what it is, how many, deadline, budget and artwork.
Built“Tell us what you need made”: leather patch hats, shirts, tumblers, ranch brand gear or something else, with how many, needed by, budget and details. Requests land in your dashboard with your quotes.
| Planned | Built in Draft 1 |
|---|---|
| Owner dashboard Orders, quotes, messages, status, proofs, CSV export | Works on your phone: orders, quotes and messages; upload proofs, change status and add tracking numbers; filters for unpaid and test orders; a Setup panel that shows what’s connected (payments, email, tax); delete test orders before launch; spreadsheet export. |
| Emails To you and the customer | Order confirmation, proof ready, your messages, and status changes including shipped with tracking. They switch on once your email is connected. |
| FAQ & policies Turnaround, proofs, shipping, refunds, file types | An FAQ page, and Order terms & privacy as a draft for you to review. |
| Contact Form, phone, email, socials | The form, your phone and email, plus the Text Kelsey conversation with real Text and Call buttons. |
| Shop & product pages Tees and tumblers | The Shop, with tees and engraved tumblers. |
| About Your story and the Eckert shop | Made in Eckert on the home page. The About story waits on yours. |
| Launch Redirect the old Wix URLs, then go live | Old Wix links already forward to the new pages, and a launch switch refuses to go live while any “TBD” placeholder is left. |
| Not in the plan Built anyway | Embroidery and DTF pages; “Let’s build your brand together,” with hoodies & sweaters, beanies and marketing materials marked TBD until you confirm them; and brand pieces for you: a Facebook cover, Etsy banners (big and small) and the image that shows when someone shares your site link. All of it built phone-first and tested on a phone, fast, and secure: payments only through Stripe, and uploads checked. |
The current site is a Wix Stores build with three pages in the menu (Home, Shop, Contact), plus a Hat Catalog page that exists but isn't linked from the menu. The work itself is strong: real Richardson 112 hats with genuine leather patches, photographed on wood and stone, for named local customers. The site just doesn't sell it.
Her own photography, pulled from the live site. Every one of these becomes a portfolio piece and a product image in the new build.
Found by walking every page and product as a customer would. The top three cost her orders today.
| Issue | Where | Why it matters | Impact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Logos are sent by email; customers type "OK" in a text box to agree | Every product | Orders arrive with no artwork attached. She has to match emails to orders by hand before the 24-hour mockup clock can start. | High |
| Two different email addresses | Custom Tee says rkdesignsllc@gmail.com; every other page says rkdesigns324@gmail.com | If one of them isn't hers, tee customers' artwork goes nowhere. | High |
| Shipping policy is Wix's placeholder text ("I'm a shipping policy…") | Hat product page | Reads as unfinished on the most expensive product. Buyers hesitate when shipping cost and timing are unknown. | High |
| Price shown doesn't match the bulk table | Hats: $28.50 listed, table starts at $25. Variants say "4 Dozen / 5 Dozen" | Customers can't tell what they'll pay until the cart. Mixed dozens across colors aren't possible. | Medium |
| Product is named "Lather Patch Hats" | Product title, URL and Google listing | The flagship product is misspelled in search results. | Medium |
| Hat Catalog isn't in the menu; customers paste its URL into a text box | /hat-catalog | The colors and shapes customers need to choose from are hidden behind a link. | Medium |
| No portfolio, about, reviews or FAQ | Whole site | Her best sales tool is the work she's already done, and it only appears as small tiles on the home page. | Medium |
| Livestock brands, screen printing and laser engraving are promised but have no page | Hero copy, meta description, logo | Ranch customers searching "custom brand hats" or "laser engraving Delta CO" find nothing. | Medium |
| Hat color swatches show the wrong color (White/Black renders as black) | Hat options | Small, but it's the moment a customer decides. | Low |
| No order tracking or proof approval | After checkout | Proofs and approvals happen in her inbox and DMs, so nothing is on record if a customer disputes an order. | Low |
The site needs to work like her shop does: a customer picks a blank, sends a logo, approves a proof, and gets the order. Each feature below takes one step of that from her inbox and puts it on the site.
A live preview where the customer picks one of the 27 colorways, the leather (Natural or Rust), the patch shape (including Cow Tag) and the placement. They upload their logo and see it laser-burned onto the patch on the hat. The bulk price updates as they add quantity, and they can mix colorways (12 black, 12 loden) at one tier price. The finished design goes into the cart with the artwork attached.
PNG, JPG, SVG, PDF or AI files are attached to the order line and stored in Cloudflare R2, so she has the file the moment the order lands. No more "type OK."
Every order gets a private link. She uploads the mockup from her dashboard and the customer approves it or asks for changes on that page, with the approval timestamped. The status moves through Received, Proof sent, Approved, In production, Shipped, so customers check the link instead of texting her.
Kelsey also braids tack under the name Money Run, and already sells it on her Etsy shop (RKDesignsLLC): braided tie-downs at $95 and barrel reins at $34. We recommend giving it its own branded page inside the R&K site, not a separate website.
Built in the preview at /money-run: a braid designer where customers tap up to three strand colors and see the braid, a proposed lineup (barrel reins, headstall, breast collar, wither strap, tie-down, full set) and an order request form with pieces, colors, horse size and an inspiration photo.
